EU4Business helps Belarusian restaurant chain improve customer loyalty

With funding from the European Union under the EU4Business Initiative, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) helped a network of Belarusian restaurants use business analytics and spur sales effectiveness.

With funding from the European Union, the EBRD helped Café GARAGE, a local network of fast & casual restaurants to implement business intelligence (BI) system for client analytics and improving effectiveness of marketing communications.

The private company Café GARAGE operates in the catering market since 2009 and offers to its visitors a blended menu of Italian, Japanese, Belarusian cuisine as well as business breakfasts and lunches. The company also provides take-away or delivery services. All cafés interiors are decorated in a unique automobile style.

Café GARAGE is consistently working on improving its customers’ loyalty. But following intensive growth of its business, the company faced decreasing business statistics on the number of repeated customers, their profile and preferences. Moreover, fragmented analytics could no longer provide insights of effectiveness of marketing communications aimed at attraction and retention of customers.

After a screening of the company’s needs, we helped Café GARAGE engage a local consultant for implementation of business intelligence system based on QlickView platform.

As part of the project, the consultant:

  • Audited and analysed the existing information structure of the company
  • Installed the BI system and connected it to the existing databases of the client
  • Developed scripts and templates of the application including report designer
  • Visualised the application
  • Conducted the application performance testing and user’s training.

The new system of business analytics enabled the company to access reports and to create statistics panels with changes in customer preferences. Owing to the flexible online data functionality, Café GARAGE management now takes more justified decisions on marketing and communication campaigning and immediately reacts to new opportunities.

Upon the project’s completion, the company continued its growth: within one year, 5 new cafés were opened, the company’s turnover increased by 25% and staff productivity grew by 110%. With the help of client preference analysis, the company is planning to introduce personalised offers to its loyal client base.
