Final Women Entrepreneurs' Club held in Yerevan with EU4Business support

The fifth and final Women Entrepreneurs’ Club (WE Club) was successfully held in Yerevan last week, with the support of the EU4Business SMEDA project.

The event was officially opened by EU Head of Delegation Ambassador H.E. Piotr Świtalski and German Ambassador H.E. Bernhard Matthias Kiesler.

In their speeches introducing women who are active in the business and social fields of Armenia, the ambassadors encouraged them to continue their efforts in transforming and building Armenia's economy. The cited examples from European countries, highlighting the difficulties women there had overcome to become prominent leaders with a substantial impact on their country's economy.

The 5thWE Club was the final one organised by EU-SMEDA project and it was transferred to the successor consortia consisting of the Fashion and Design Chamber and VINK Consulting, which will ensure its further operation and sustainability.

The WE Clubs platform is the leading module of the Women Entrepreneurship initiative of the EU-SMEDA project, aimed to promote and encourage women entrepreneurs who gather regularly to share, exchange, establish new business connections, learn and get inspired by each other’s successes.

Until now, five WE Clubs have been held in Yerevan, and two in Goris, each on a specific business topic. The WE clubs aim to be ultimately transferred to women-led consortia for sustainable continuation in Yerevan and the regions.

The EU4Business SMEDA (Support to SME Development in Armenia) project supports the improvement of the business and investment climate for SMEs in Armenia. It aims to strengthen the private sector, support SME coordination mechanisms, and foster links between research institutions and the private sector, as well as providing access to finance for SMEs.
