Georgia and the European Union (EU) are collaborating on a range of digital issues aimed at generating economic growth, creating new jobs, improving people’s daily lives and building a better environment for doing business in.
To advance the Digital Community between the EU and Eastern Partnership countries, ministers from Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine recently met with EU officials in Brussels. The main focus of the meeting was the EU4Digital regional network initiative.
About the Digital Community
The Digital Community is driving cooperation between the EU and its eastern neighbours as they work to build a digital economy and society. Its objective is to extend the benefits of the EU’s Digital Single Market (DSM) to the Eastern Partnership countries.
Home to a potential 72 million consumers, the Eastern Partnership countries are important stakeholders in the success of the DSM. ‘I am convinced that our common vision of a Digital Community and our common commitment to investing in the digital economy and society will result in significant mutual benefits and bring our citizens and businesses closer to each other’, says EU Commissioner for the Digital Economy and Society Günther Oettinger.
